I’ve been thinking about this after restarting my game recently. Every time I begin a new playthrough, I promise myself that I’ll build a completely different team. I even make a list of Pokémon that I want to use because I don’t want to repeat the same choices from my previous save.

The problem is that things never go according to plan.

I’ll start the game with one idea, but after catching a few Pokémon, I’ll completely change my mind. Then I’ll see another fusion someone shared online, and suddenly I want to rebuild my whole team again. Before long, I’ve spent more time changing my plans than actually playing the game.

I’m curious if anyone else does this or if it’s just me.

One thing I’ve noticed is that I always get attached to certain Pokémon too early. I convince myself they’ll stay with me until the end of the game, but a few hours later they’re sitting in the PC because I’ve found another combination that seems more interesting.

I don’t even think I’m looking for the strongest team anymore. I just enjoy trying different ideas and seeing how they work together. Sometimes an unusual combination turns out much better than I expected, while other times a fusion that looked perfect ends up disappointing me after only a few battles.

To get a few new ideas, I spent some time looking through. It reminded me of several Pokémon that I hadn’t used in years, and it actually made me want to build a team around some of those forgotten favorites instead of always choosing the same popular ones.

After that, I started checking an infinite fusion calculator whenever I had two or three possible combinations in mind. I don’t use it because I want someone else to decide for me. I simply like seeing different possibilities before making a choice that I’ll probably keep for a long time.

Something I’ve learned is that I enjoy using Pokémon that aren’t recommended very often. It’s fun finding a combination that surprises me instead of following a list of the “best” fusions everyone already knows about.

Another thing I started doing was giving every new fusion a fair chance. Before, if I wasn’t impressed after one or two battles, I’d replace it immediately. Now I keep new team members around a little longer, and I’ve discovered that some of my favorite fusions needed time before I really appreciated how useful they were.

I’ve also stopped comparing my team to screenshots I see online. It’s easy to think someone else’s team looks better, but part of the fun is building something that feels personal. Even if my choices aren’t perfect, they’re my own, and that makes the game more enjoyable.

One reason I keep coming back to Infinite Fusion is because every playthrough feels different. Even if I know the story, my experience changes depending on which Pokémon I decide to use. A single fusion can completely change how I approach battles or which Pokémon I want to catch next.

The community has also been one of my favorite parts of the game. I enjoy reading discussions where players explain why they like certain combinations instead of simply saying which ones are strongest. Those conversations often introduce me to Pokémon that I would have ignored otherwise.

I’ve reached the point where I don’t think there’s a perfect team. There are simply too many possibilities. No matter how carefully I plan, I’ll always discover another interesting combination later. Instead of worrying about making the “right” choice, I’ve started enjoying the process of experimenting.

So I wanted to ask everyone here.

When you’re building a team, what’s the biggest mistake you usually make? Do you replace Pokémon too often like I do? Do you stick with your first choices until the end? Or do you have your own way of deciding which fusions deserve a permanent place on your team?
