I have been looking into starting a food van and the more I research the idea of starting a food van the more I realise that there is a lot to work out before I get started with my food van. Choosing the locations for my food van is one part of it but I also need to think about the equipment for my food van, the fuel for my food van, the ingredients for the food, the permits for my food van, the insurance for my food van and the quieter periods when sales of food from my food van may drop.

I am putting together a food van business plan mainly to see if the numbers actually make sense before I invest in my food van. I want to keep the idea of my food van rather than assume every day will be busy for my food van.

Has anyone here started a food van or a similar mobile food business like a food van? I would love to hear what caught you by surprise in the few months of running your food van and what you would plan differently if you were starting your food van again.
