My Mini Cooper feels like a go-kart in the worst way possible

So I bought a used 2016 Mini Cooper S because I wanted something fun and agile for zipping around Dubai, but honestly lately it’s become almost unbearable on anything other than perfectly smooth tarmac. Every little crack in the road sends a sharp jolt through the steering wheel and I swear I can feel individual pebbles under the tires which was kinda charming at first but now my back just hurts after driving from The Greens to DIFC every morning. I know Minis are supposed to have a firm ride but this feels excessive like something is actually broken or completely worn out. Had a friend ride with me who owns a similar Mini and he said his isn’t nearly this harsh so that confirms something is off. I was looking at https://suspensionrepairdubai.ae/mini-cooper-shock-absorber-replacement/ earlier today and it seems like they actually understand that these cars have unique suspension setups compared to regular hatchbacks. My question is for other Mini owners here, did new shocks transform the ride quality back to something livable or is the car just inherently this harsh and I bought the wrong vehicle for Dubai roads? Really hoping it’s fixable because I don’t wanna sell it but I also can’t keep driving something that beats me up every single day.
